People who ought to know better often make the assumption that public housing is (in their words) ugly. So it is heartening to see, in these images, that an enlightened view is possible. Public housing estates in our city (Sydney) are under threat of being demolished and replaced by mediocre or worse private apartment schemes. We are campaigning to save the public housing, and part of the task is to educate people about the qualities of the late Modernist buildings. The images on this website inspire us to go out with our cameras and document the beauty of buildings we are trying to save.
